This module will include a brief introduction to general principles of clinical pharmacology in relation to pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, including topics such as roles of nurses in relation to pharmacology, drugs sources, drugs evaluation/ development, drugs names (generic vs. brand) medication safety, etc.
Apart from general principles of pharmacology, drugs acting on the following systems will be covered: Nervous (central/ peripheral/ autonomic); endocrine, reproductive, cardiovascular, renal, respiratory, gastrointestinal, chemotherapeutic agents, etc.
The module will cover principles and theories for nursing pharmacology with focus on drugs commonly used in Rwanda (Reference: National Essential Drugs list issued by MOH)
This module addresses the communication, leadership, and advocacy role of the specialized practice nurse. As this is a new role in the Rwandan health care system the ability to effectively convey the scope and influence of this role is a critical component to its success. Accountability for one’s own actions, supervision, mentorship, professional communication to team, stakeholders, and patients, health care system management functions, ethical dilemmas, and adherence to the policy will each be addressed.

to Global Health (GH) with emphasis on determinants of health and illnesses
while reflecting on global burden of diseases and variations by countries. Conditions
that enhance health, as well as factors that contribute to health and illnesses
as such give basis for health and diseases patterns within epidemiological
framework are explored. Attributes such as evidence-based policy implementation,
gender equity, access to healthcare, health literacy, health disparities,
healthcare disparities, and community health collaboration will be explored. Actions at local, national and international
levels for health promotion, disease prevention, care to manage disease burdens
are also In addition, the role of the nurse in addressing challenges such as
poor sanitation, malnutrition, poverty and other risk factors will be
emphasized.

This module will help you to use the knowledge gained in previous courses such as assessment and planning considerations, for the management of patients in the intraoperative phase. During this module, the roles of the scrub nurse and circulating nurse will be explored in detail. In addition, the nurse will become proficient in the intraoperative management of surgical patients undergoing a variety of surgical interventions.
This is a room for neonatal specific path-physiology.
It will mainly be used through peer reviewed articles and other evidence based neonatal protocols guidelines in order to make a direct link with previous covered concept in common sessions of patho-physiology.

The purpose of this module is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of advanced nursing practice leadership and its role in impacting healthcare in Rwanda.
