The focus of this course is to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes in the care of children in primary, secondary and tertiary settings. The module equips learners to utilize the nursing process when examining children responses to illness, treatment and hospitalisation. It emphasis therapeutic relationship amongst nurses, parents, care givers, and children during illness and recovery, and the creation of child-friendly clinics and hospitals. Emphasis is placed on common health problems occurring in Rwanda and in Sub Saharan Africa Countries.

Course Description: This course is designed to assist students in knowledge and in-depth understanding of the newborn in pathological situation and with particular characteristics. It is in the core of midwife profession. As a professional midwife, this course makes an engine during our professional exercises.  The course of neonatology is on the basis of the specific knowledge to the midwife profession. It helps the students to develop an understanding attitude towards the mother or the couple with the newborn with health problems.
