Welcome to the course

This module deals with human body structure, function and their relationship. It is designed to enable students to gain an understanding of normal body structure and functioning of different organ systems of human body. Therefore it will become the basis for further study in the nursing profession and will help students to develop critical thinking for effective analysis and management of health related conditions.

Throughout this module, brief description of the anatomy of each important organ is given under the headings of various systems. Essential aspects of Anatomy and physiology are discussed simply, yet with accuracy and precision. Again, the illustrations complement the text material and foster comprehension on the part of the student. Each chapter is organized from the simple to the more complex, with the anatomy followed by the physiology which deals with the healthy functions of different organs and the change that the whole body undergoes in the module of its activities. Within the chapter, objectives to meet are set and the content availed. Clinical contexts are used through the module in all the areas to make the students aware of the importance of anatomy and physiology in their future nursing practice.

Mention that without the understanding of the functioning of the human, no link can be done with the pathologies and their care and support by the nurse and midwife. Therefore the purpose of this module is to describe the normal structure and function of human body organs and system then gained knowledge will be the basis for understanding different pathologies and the direction and outcome of patient care within the framework of Nursing /Midwifery.

The purpose of this module is to examine the concepts of health promotion and disease prevention with emphasis on community health, nutrition, education, adherence to immunization policies, and breastfeeding. Critical analysis of the theories of health promotion and the sociocultural and environmental factors that impact health status will be discussed. The planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion programs will be reviewed and applied to the context of Rwanda.

Welcome to Psychotherapy Course

The aim of this course is to prepare mental nurses to be able to communicate therapeutically and lead different therapeutic groups for facilitating mental health recovery towards people with mental disorders. This module will equip students with theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to apply the appropriate therapeutic approaches in the treatment of mental health disorders. It is concerned with evaluation of problems and possible solutions, as well as the encouragement of more adaptive ways of thinking and behaving. The basic ideas related to various theories of psychotherapy are covered in this module

Course image NEONATAL ADVANCED HEALTH ASSESSMENT

This module gives students the opportunity to develop their advanced neonatal health assessment skills focusing on effective methods of data collection including accurate use of instruments and using a systematic approach to physical examination.  Upon commencement of the module all MScN Neonatal track students will be able to perform a comprehensive physical exam, obtain a thorough history and physical findings and be able to identify disease entity and appropriate treatment for common neonatal conditions.

This module uses a systems approach to address pathophysiological conditions and their clinical management related to the care commonly experienced in Rwanda. Also, the concept of community mental health will be focused on and will include psycho-social rehabilitation of psychiatric clients with severe and chronic diseases.

This module of Community Health Nursing equips learners with knowledge of nursing in the community, covering the clients’ home, schools, and health centers and other health and social work agencies. It introduces the learners to the concepts used in community health nursing, the legal and theoretical frameworks guiding community health nursing practice, and the functioning of the health-care system in the country. Concepts of primary health care (PHC) and family-centered care as an approach to health-care delivery and the nursing process are applied. The module prepares the learner for school health nursing, disaster management, home-based care, forensic health, and health in the workplace and correctional services. Emphasis is placed on primary health care, health promotion and disease prevention.
