Rwanda’s evolving community health worker system; a qualitative assessment of client and provider perspectives

Basing on six components of  introduction section, the topic is well described as the research problem is defined to be the shortage of skilled health worker  and this increases mortality in under 5 children as they lack quick interventions on most killing diseases like Malaria, pneumonia, and Diarrhea. The time and area of study was highlighted.

 On the part of existing knowledge, The Author compares Rwanda from other sub Saharan countries as one that  achieved the health related  millennium goals and had decreased the under 5 mortality  by 2000. He also mentioned that across Africa the under five mortality was due to infectious diseases which could be prevented by community health workers interventions.

The purpose of study is to assess the capacity of community health workers and  to  identify factors that impact CHWs  system.  

Methodological approach was defined as a cross- sectional study used to collect information regarding educational background, knowledge and practice of CHWs. It was also mentioned that the study will be conducted in 3 districts with different levels of food security.

The contextual information was not provided. And the impact of this study would be the improvement in CHWs system.

 

Sex differences in nutritional status of HIV-exposed children in Rwanda; a Longitudinal study.

The topic is well described  in the introduction given, as it states the problem and the affected people. It examined the sex differences in nutritional status in relation to feeding practices in hiv-exposed children in complementary to feeding programme in Rwanda. the time and area of the study was mentioned.

The summary on existing knowledge was mentioned and found that sex differences in  nutritional status vary globaly where in Asia  malnutrition is often more common in young girls than boys.

The purpose of this study was clearly  mentioned, it was to explore HIV transmission and feeding practices in relation to sex differences.

The methodological approach was well defined as it used a prospective , longitudinal cohort study.

Regarding conceptual information , The Author did not specify the difficulties encounted while conducting research however he presented different elements that confounded the study .

The impact is well stated in the study
