MTE2242: Integrals and applications
Trimester 2

The module will cover the following points: Tangent and velocity problems; Limits of function; first and second derivative functions; interpretations of the derivative; linear approximation; differentiation rules: derivatives of polynomials and exponential functions; rates of change in the natural and social Sciences; derivatives of trigonometric functions;  linear approximation and differentials; maximum and minimum values; derivatives and shapes of curves; Hospital’s rule, integrals and their applications. Numerical integration: Simpson’s rule and Trapezoidal rule.
