IS80561: Python Programming for Data Analytics (ODeL)

This module introduces students with no prior programming experience to Python and shows how it is used for data analytics. Students learn the basics of the language, the main program building blocks, file handling and object oriented programming. They then use Jupyter notebooks, NumPy and Pandas to explore, clean and manipulate data, create visualizations, collect public web data, and apply simple machine learning tasks with Scikit-Learn. The module emphasises constructive alignment between online lessons, laboratory sessions and assessed activities, so that students gain practical skills they can apply to real data problems.
