Newtonian mechanics is valid for slowly moving objects in inertial frames of reference. In such frames, the laws of mechanics have the same form in all inertial frames. When objects move at high speeds, Newton's laws break down, and Einstein's theory of relativity takes over. In this module, Einstein's postulates are presented, along with their consequences: time dilation and length contraction. The Lorentz transformations are then used to develop new rules for velocity composition, dynamics, and electrodynamics.
