Engineering Design Project is an integrative, practice-oriented module in which students bring together technical design, project planning, monitoring and evaluation, participatory management, and project economics. The module moves students from identifying an agricultural water-management problem to developing a technically sound, economically informed, socially responsive and monitorable project solution.
The module treats an engineering project as a complete system rather than a drawing or calculation alone. Students examine irrigation and drainage needs, formulate project objectives, organise design and implementation activities, evaluate performance, engage water users and other stakeholders, and justify the proposed intervention using financial and economic evidence.
