Semester 1

Among the most important human activities is managing. Ever since people began forming groups to accomplish aims they could not achieve as individuals, managing has been essential to ensure the coordination of individual efforts. As society has become large, the task of managers has been rising in importance.

Again, a manager's job involves planning for the future by anticipating changes in the external environment, organizing people into groups, allocating resources to them and motivating them to attain organizational goals. Good management is essential for any organization; it can be a government agency, a non-profit organization or an industrial firm, if it is to achieve its objectives.

Introduction to Management helps students to understand the fundamental concepts, functions and processes of management. In the changing business environment, managers must also consider factors such as cultural diversity, social responsiveness and ethical and moral obligations to lead their organizations successfully

This module will provide students with an understanding of nature of management, its principles and introduce the various managerial functions necessary to achieve organizational goals, and the role of management in organization.
