This course introduces the key concepts, models, theories, principles, and tools of strategy formulation, implementation, evaluation and competitive analysis. The module develops the strategic thinking of students which focuses on decision making abilities and actions to be taken , especially in relation to understanding the use of various strategies in different situations, that affect the performance and survival of business enterprises. The course is focused on required information and skills to be used by managers to develop strategies, position their businesses, identify firm boundaries and take full advantage of long-term profits in the face of uncertainty and competition. Strategic management module also provides students with a broad view of business or organisation environment that includes employees, customers/buyers, sellers/suppliers, global market, technology, and competitors, to be able to understand the environmental and organisational interactions. Furthermore, this module allows the students to be open to emerging areas of interdisciplinary and integrative studies . It also involves building bridges between academic learning and labour market and business environment.
Learning outcomes
This module aims at imparting the knowledge and skills required by the students in managing organisation at managerial positions, thus learning outcomes of this module are the following:
- Understand environment scanning of the industry in which they are operating in, the individual and business customers and their implications to the organization.
- Understand and formulate company’s direction
- Develop the strategy and competitive advantage of the organization to fit specific industry and company situations
- Applying business models and strategies in a Dynamic Environment.
