NU70453: Community Health Nursing
Semester 2

This module equips learners with knowledge of nursing in the community, covering the clients’ home, schools, and health centers and other health and social work agencies. It introduces the learners to the concepts used in community health nursing, the legal and theoretical frameworks guiding community health nursing practice, and the functioning of the health-care system in the country. Concepts of primary health care (PHC), epidemiology and family-centered care as an approach to health-care delivery and the nursing process are applied. The module prepares the learner for school health nursing, rights and safety of a Professional, disaster management, home-based care, forensic health, and health in the workplace and correctional services. Emphasis is placed on primary health care, health promotion and disease prevention.
