CMC8151: Human Anatomy & Physiology I
Semester 1
  • Introduction to Systemic Anatomy for Clinical Medicine Students

The lecture introduces systemic anatomy to medical students, emphasizing its importance as a foundation for understanding human health, medicine, and future clinical practice. It explores how systemic anatomy explains complex bodily functions and answers common questions about the human body

  • Interdependence of Human Body Systems in Anatomy

Anatomy studies the structure and interrelations of body systems, which include locomotor, alimentary, respiratory, urinary, genital, endocrine, circulatory, nervous, and sensory organs. Despite specialized functions, these systems constantly adjust to internal and external changes and rely on each other's support, highlighting the interdependence in human anatomy.

  • Four Subdivisions of Anatomy and Their Clinical Significance

Anatomy is divided into four main areas: Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy, Developmental Anatomy, and Applied Anatomy. Each subdivision focuses on different aspects of bodily structure, from macroscopic features to microscopic details and developmental processes. Applied Anatomy, also known as Practical or Surgical Anatomy, is particularly crucial in medicine, emphasizing the clinical application of anatomical knowledge in surgery and health sciences, aiding in safe procedures, accurate diagnoses, and minimizing patient morbidity.
