TRE3163 Railway Engineering and Operations Management
Semester I

Railroad track is the backbone of a railway network and a key element of the vehicle-track system. Its primary functions are to support and distribute train loads, guide rail vehicles and facilitate drainage. This course covers a wide range of technical subjects: the theory and the practical application of track engineering principles, advanced track structure analysis (both static and dynamic) and innovative track technologies and modeling and simulating different track structures. Further more, it explores the interaction with other modules such as hydrology, bridge, sub structure (subgrade). The module will combine theoretical analysis with practical applications to allow students to understand how railway engineering and operational principles are used in the real world.
