Dear Students welcome to this teaching platform, it allows Students to interact with module content and module teaching team. This module is called Physiotherapy Assessment skills it is facilitated in Year One trimester Three. The facilitating team is led by Emmy BUCYANA. This module will provide knowledge to the learner that enables them to independently assess Patients with conditions and illnesses that is managed within the Physiotherapy scope of practice. On this teaching and learning platform you will find module learning outcomes, learning materials and any other relevant material for smooth learning and teaching.

Introduction to clinical assessment - Definition - Need/Importance of clinical assessment Steps in clinical assessment - Subjective assessment, aims, reasons to why register different variable in subjective assessment, demographics, history taking. - Objective assessment, aims of objective assessment, vital signs, observation, inspection, palpation, examination- including Special tests, higher functions, sensory and motor examination. - How and when confirm/negate the hypothesis - Plan & aim of treatment – integrating the principles of Impairment, activity and participation. - What, why, how & when contra-indications, precautions, Contraindications to objective assessment & treatment techniques.
Clinical reasoning in physiotherapy clinical assessment
