Welcome message.
Dear Students,
Welcome to the Advanced Newborn Health Care course! This course will be delivered in a blended learning format, providing you with the opportunity to apply growth and development theories, identify risk factors for both mothers and infants, and collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will gain skills in accessing research evidence to support evidence-based newborn care, while applying principles of family-centered care, social justice, and ethical practices, especially in low-resource settings.
Throughout this course, you will also develop competency in neonatal resuscitation, including effective bag-mask ventilation, chest compressions, medication administration, and post-resuscitation care. Additionally, you will evaluate emerging technologies relevant to newborn care in resource-limited environments. The course will emphasize developmental care practices like kangaroo mother care and encourage a commitment to social justice by treating all infants and families with dignity, respect, and equity.
