Semester I
This course provides the fundamentals needed to understand the application of hydraulics to civil engineering works. The course covers application of the principles of fluid mechanics to flow in open and closed channels. It introduces to students the basic concepts of irrigation and drainage systems: design, planning and management; particularly the design of irrigation and drainage projects. Thereafter the course intends to provide the students with understanding of the importance of water supply systems in society and with a good understanding of water demand estimation, design of water supply system including storage capacity and appurtenances of water network.
