Introduction
This unit explores first year student teachers’ perceptions of the teaching profession in the context of Rwanda. There is evidence that in most developing countries, teacher preparation at tertiary level combines candidates with professional preparation from high school and those without such experience. These students enter the programme with different preconceptions about and perceptions of the teaching profession .Unit Learning Outcome:
By the end of unit 1, you should be able to:•Categorize first-year university student-teachers’ perceptions of the teaching profession to reflect on their impact on your future teaching roles and practices.-
