    The aim of this unit is to equip you with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help you to consider during the process of hiring staff.

    2. Indicative content

    This unit is designed to cover:

    • The recruitment process
    • Job analysis and job description
    • Recruitment strategy
    • Internal and external recruitment
    • The selection process
    • The selection strategies and models
    • Recruitment and selection techniques and methods

    3. Unit Learning Outcomes

    At the end of this unity, you will be able to:

    • Discuss human resource management forecasting strategy
    • Explain the employee recruitment and selection functions
    • Describe recruitment and selection techniques and methods

    4. Time duration

    The time to be allocated to this unit is distributed as follows:

    • 2hrs of reading of materials;
    • 1hrs of attempting E-tivity 3.1.;
    • 1hr of attempting E-tivity 3.2;
    • 1 min of attempting E-tivity 3.3; and
    • 2 hrs of face to face under the guidance of facilitator

    • Purpose:

      The purpose of this E-tivity 3.1 is to let you being able to discuss human resource management forecasting strategies.

      Task:

      1. Read through the book entitled Human Resource Management Section 5.1 and section 5.2 about recruitment and selection.

      2. Answer to the following question: "What is the strategy that is mostly used in Human Resource Management forecasting? Justify your answer, post it on the forum discussion.

    • Purpose:

      This E-tivity allows you to explain the employee recruitment and selection functions

      Tasks:

      After reading the following book entitled Recruiting, Interviewing, Selecting & Orienting New Employees, Chapter 13 from page 271 to page 285answer the following questions and submit for grading:

      1. What components are included in the selection process? /4marks
      2. Discuss any three recruitment strategies /3marks
      3. Explain any three selection models /3marks
    • Purpose:

      This E-tivity allows you to describe recruitment and selection techniques and methods

      Tasks:

      Read the book entitled Recruiting, Interviewing, Selecting & Orienting New Employees chapter 6 and 9 and answer the following questions:

      1. What are the best techniques that are used in the recruitment process? Justify your answer and post your views on the forum discussion

      2. What are the methods that are mostly used in the employment selection process? Justify your answer and post your views on the forum discussion.
