Introduction

This session explains reasons behind the use of theories and paradigmes in qualitative research. In addition, there are may traditions that are used in qualitative research. This session gives details about important traditions (study designs/approaches) that are used in qualitative research.

LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR THE SESSION

Determine the reasons behind the use of theories and paradigms in qualitative research

Apply appropriate theory while conducting a qualitative research

Differentiate traditions according to their respective foci

Use an appropriate tradition for a specific qualitative study
