This module (Educational leadership and management) addresses key themes in educational leadership and management and how they relate to schools. In this module students are facilitated to learn and reflect on educational leadership and management and related concepts, leadership models and styles, theories and functions of management, the school as an organisation, change management, economics of education, educational planning, conflict management, stress management and, standards of effective school leadership.
The module highlights the concept and practices of inclusive education with a focus on specific teaching strategies for each category of learners with special educational needs (SEN), SEN identification, assessment, and intervention, and general inclusive education strategies. It then explains the concepts of guidance and counselling, school counselling approaches, basic counselling skills and school counselling ethics, comprehensive guidance counselling program as a whole school approach, theoretical framework of career development in schools, and crisis prevention and intervention in schools.
