  •  This unit will expose to the understanding of the meaning of fibers and fabrics; types of fabrics, their qualities and applications or uses. Basically you study the following;

      1. Definitions of natural and synthetic fibers & fabrics

      2. Classification of fibers

    • Natural Fibers
    • Synthetic Fibers

      3. Classification of Fabrics

    • Natural Fabrics
    • Synthetic Fabrics
    • Smart Fabrics

     4. Materials used in the making of fibers and fabrics.

     5. General uses/ application of the fibers and fabrics 

    • Make an elaborate scrapbook having images of fabric materials made from natural (Plant and Animal fibers) and synthetic/ man-made fibers. Briefly outline their general uses or application

  •  

    At the end of this session you will be able to identify and compare natural fibers and synthetic fibers, their properties and demonstrate and understanding of their applications.

    • Techniques and Processes used in making artifacts

  • Simple Basket weaving;

    At the end of this session you will be able to make a simple basket using weaving techniques.

    At the end of this session, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the final projects and present preliminary sketches and designs their final projects.
