Section outline

  • 1. Welcome message

Dear students, a warm welcome to the module of Multiple Integrals and  Differential Equations. After being introduced to different operations on functions in one variable (MTE2343), the present module  investigates concepts of functions of several variables.

     2. Module aim

The module investigates concepts of functions of several variables, partial derivatives, multiple integrals, ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations. After completion of the module, the student teachers will be able to teach similar topics in TTCs or any other Secondary School. For more details, click here module description.

    3. Intended learning outcomes

Having succesfully completed the module, you will be able to:

    1. Find limit and domain of continuity of a multivariable functions
    1. Compute partial differentiation and apply it to solve problems involving optimisation
    1. Compute  and apply double integrals
    2. Compute ODEs and apply them to solve a wide variety of problems from various domains (physical, chemistry, biological, economical, etc.)
    3. Compute PDEs and apply them to solve a wide variety of problems from various domains (physical, chemistry, biological, economical, etc.)

    4.Module Facilitators' contact:

The module will be facilitated by

Prof Alphonse Uworwabayeho: email: a.uworwabayeho@ur.ac.rw; Telephone 0788576566

Ms  Christine Uwimana: email: c.uwimana@ur.ac.rw; Telephone:0788681349

Dr Innocente Uwineza: email: i.uwineza@ur.ac.rw, telephone: 0785549334

    5. Teaching and learning activities

Dear students, this module is composed of 5 units. You will find notes that support your learning. However you are encouraged to look for other key resources (click here) to complement the provided notes. You are called to participate to forum discussions, work out all quizes and assignments.

    •   The story board presents succession of the 5 different units  that compose the module.  we have  include key learning outcomes to  enable you assess your progress.

    • These are key resources for your reading so that you complement provided notes.
