Section outline

  • Introduction

Inclusive e-teaching and learning is at the heart of equitable education in the digital age. This unit lays the conceptual and theoretical groundwork that underpins all subsequent units of this module. Students will explore what it truly means to design online learning environments where every learner, regardless of ability, background, language, or location, can access, participate in, and benefit from instruction.

    Learning Outcomes

By the end of this unit, students should be able to:

    • Define inclusive e-teaching and learning and explain its core principles in relation to equity, access, and participation in online and blended educational contexts.
    • Describe the diverse needs of learners in digital environments, including those with physical, cognitive, sensory, and socio-economic challenges.
    • Explain the key theoretical frameworks underpinning inclusive e-learning design, with particular emphasis on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and its three core principles.
    • Evaluate the opportunities and challenges associated with designing inclusive online and blended learning experiences in resource-constrained contexts.
