This module introduces students to various needs, rights and responsibilities entitled to children for them to support them accordingly since they are supposed to know children before teaching them.  It also takes them through Rwandan practices in relation to children' rights protection in relation to international standards.

With reference to competence-based curriculum (CBC), various themes including the nature of science, contemporary issues in science teaching and learning, interdependence of science, technology and society, basic principles of science teaching and learning, as well as specific teaching methods of sciences will be discussed.

This module aims at introducing the learner to various methods and approaches of teaching in Early Childhood Development and their theoretical underpinnings and preparing them with knowledge and skills in the Integrated Thematic Approach to the teaching/learning procedures. It also introduces students to live lessons through field trips to some of the best pre-primary schools.

The content of this module will provide students with knowledge and understanding of concepts of economic growth, economic development, underdevelopment, sustainable development, Chenery’s patterns of structural change, characteristics of modern economic growth, different theories of economic development & models of growth; development process and strategies, role of agriculture and industry in economic development and development process and strategies in Rwanda.

Trimester 3

Linear algebra is about linear combinations. Linear algebra is the study of lines and planes, vector spaces and mappings that are required for linear transforms.

This module introduces to you with the concepts of vector spaces, linear applications, matrices. It also introduces to with the concepts of bilinear and quadratic forms and multilinear forms  which play a big role in tensor algebra and calculus. It deals with the calculation of the determinant of matrices of higher order, determination of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors which are useful in the diagonalisation and triangulation of a matrix which are used in solving higher order linear equation systems

This module deals with optics. The module further introduces the basic concepts and principles of waves and optics, and their applications.

Course image FED2344: Social Psychology
Trimester 3

The module aims at providing prospective teachers with knowledge and skills in various theories related to social psychology. It helps them learn about the definition of social psychology, the link between psychology, society and human behaviour. The module also tackles the historical background of Social Psychology, the major Perspectives in Social Psychology, major research areas in Social Psychology, the human social behavior, beliefs and attitudes group dynamics and group tensions & conflicts.

Trimester 3

This module contextualises current educational approaches by examining the historical roots of pedagogy and Education at large. The learners will be able to trace the evolution of educational thought and practices since ancient times and relate them to contemporary educational and general development efforts in Rwanda and the rest of the world. The module further compares world educational systems and examines current and emerging national and international interventions that impact on educational systems in the world today.
