This module aims to introduce the student to the concepts of clinical chemistry tests and their relevance to clinical diagnostics. They will develop their knowledge and understanding of biochemical changes in disease, and learn practical techniques in clinical chemistry.
The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the concepts of Molecular Biology and describe nucleic acids and proteins and how these molecules interact within the cell to promote proper growth, division, and development. Students will develop knowledge and an understanding of molecular mechanisms of DNA replication, repair, protein synthesis …. etc. Also, the module will cover the detection of biological molecules (biomarkers) associated with infectious or genetic disease in patient samples
This module provides basic theoretical and practical concepts of immunology. We describe the components of the human immune system, the types of immunity, the evolution of the immune system, immunoregulation, deficiencies of the immune system and the principles of immunoassays.
