Module Description: History Taking and Physical Examination Techniques in the Pediatric Population
This module provides comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in conducting effective history taking and physical examination among infants, children, and adolescents. It focuses on age-appropriate assessment techniques and emphasizes a holistic, family-centered approach to pediatric care. Participants will learn how to obtain accurate and relevant health information from children and their caregivers, considering developmental stages, communication abilities, and cultural factors.
The module covers different types of pediatric assessments, including comprehensive, focused, emergency, developmental, nutritional, and psychosocial assessments. Learners will be introduced to systematic approaches for gathering subjective and objective data, recognizing normal growth and developmental variations, and identifying abnormal findings that require further investigation or intervention.
Practical sessions will emphasize physical examination techniques specific to pediatric patients, including general appearance, vital signs measurement, anthropometric assessment, and examination of major body systems such as the respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, musculoskeletal, and integumentary systems.
