Dear students, welcome to the module of Developmental and Gross Veterinary Anatomy I. It is a 20 credits module covered in Veterinary Medicine year 1, semester 1. This module provides basic knowledge on embryonic development, the basic systems such as bones, muscles and internal organs and systems.
This module is very important for the Veterinary training as it prepares for further professional courses such as Physiology, Pathology, Surgery, Theriogenology, etc...
At the end of this module, students should be able to clearly describe different stages of the embryonic development, describe different bones, muscles and organs, and provide their clinical importance.
Welcome to Genetics and Animals breeding module which is a course taught to frst year Veterinary students. The module covers two units; Genetics and Animal improvement and it introduces student to basic genetic principles, inheritance concpts and animal breeding. Students learn how genes are inherited and how these genes can be used in animal improvement to imporove productivity. and aviod genetics disorders. eritance principles, and genomic techniques. The module will cover topics like Mendelian genetics, probability, gene actions, sex determination, mutations, and genetic engineering, breeding methods,and selection,
Module intended learning out come
At the end of this module student will be able;
1. To explains the how genes are inherited and transmitted in animals populations.
2. To describe how genes in animal populations change over time.
3. To describe different methods of animal breeding,selection and mating in order to select the best animals to be parent for the next generation
4. To explain the different reproductive technologies used in animal improvement
