This module discusses changes in development policy. It covers structural adjustment and liberalization policies; ideological disenchantment with the state and state-led development. It also discusses aid fatigue and the decline in development aid and globalization with space reducing technologies in transport and communication. The technological and managerial changes in production of goods and services are also discussed focusing on the growing volume of people, capital and firms that are mobile across the globe, enterprise development and locality development.
Having successfully completed the module, students should be able to:

The objective of this course is to provide students with basic theoretical and practical knowledge/skills for image data processing and to build upon the theoretical and practical knowledge/skills gained in the first year to include methodologies that integrate various spatial analysis and modeling techniques. This includes mastering the different concepts, tools and methods to analyze spatial data (GE-Information) for different phenomena.
The Module provides a broad introduction to the field of spatial planning. The Module deals with both the core concepts and theories of spatial planning and the policy context of spatial planning in developing countries.
